Lockdown.I never noticed how big I had gotten until a video of me in lockdown was taken. I hadn't exercised in years and ate all the wrong things daily. This had a huge impact on my weight gain and most of my mental stability, energy and health. In lockdown I started my very own business - drawing mental health journeys, focusing on drawing heads and people's stories. Roll on 3 years and not only has my lockdown idea of a business turned into a thriving online page and part-time job for me, I have also lost 4 stone in weight. Making a change.This weight loss was not easy for me. I have under active thyroid disease and I struggle daily with my mental health. Still do occasionally. I refocused my energy, put all of my love into my business and with that came a new focus of getting fit! I started walking, spin biking at home and I gradually saw small improvements. I kept going. |

I feel honoured and privileged to be a member of this group and joining Katy (Nexus), plus all the amazing members (friends) on the incredible journey ahead.

Meet one of the founding members of Nexus Runners! Ruth joined us for our first Introduction to Running course, 'graduating' in December '21. In fact, it's all down to Ruth and the rest of the group, that Nexus Runners exists! Since joining the gang, Ruth has taken part in away days, Park Runs, a Turkey Trott and even completed the Market Drayton 10k, just a few short months after taking up running! Ruth is an integral part of our run club - always giving 100%, always championing others to achieve their goals and always with a huge smile on her face!

For someone who did not intend to take up running, as I always thought I was never a natural runner and only said yes to support a friend... I loved the Introduction to Running sessions. I was very nervous as I have never run before, however the relaxed, supported environment created by Katy and her run leaders and the friendly encouragement from fellow team members made each session an amazing achievement and I always came away feeling chuffed with my efforts.

Karen joined us back in February '22 for our second Introduction to Running course! In just 8 weeks she went from run-walking intervals to running for 4 miles continuously! A huge achievement!
Karen had joined us for bootcamps in the past and had become an expert at squats, lunges and kettlebells! But running? That was completely new! Since 'graduating' her course Karen has become a much loved member of Nexus Runners, she has taken part in our away days, completed her first Park Run and... continues to improve her fitness and running with every session!

We are fundamentally a group exercise studio, we believe in the power of coaching and support, guidance and camaraderie. Our kit needs to reflect this ethos. We will create a safe and supportive environment for everyone to achieve their goals. We want you to move better and feel fitter outside of our gym environment too! We want you to understand the exercises you're doing and why you're doing them! We want you to feel confident in a gym environment! And... we also want you to enjoy the exercises you do! That's why we believe wholeheartedly in our kit choices! With the range we have chosen, we feel there will be something for everyone!
